The Third Song

Completing the story

And then there was the third song. Oh My God, Give Me Peace was the third of three songs by Nella Martinetti that became part of my musical journey — alongside Amore Mio and Mea Culpa.

The three songs are closely connected to my memories of Nella and to the evening at her home when she played her music for us. What began with conversation, laughter and listening eventually developed into recordings for the album Amore Mio.

“Three songs — and three lasting memories of a very special musical encounter.”

Working with Nella was never simply about receiving a song. She shared her thoughts about phrasing, emotion and interpretation, while always leaving me the freedom to find my own way into the music.

With Oh My God, Give Me Peace, the trio was complete. Three songs written and composed by Nella, each with its own character, yet all belonging to the same chapter of my musical life.

A Musical Chapter

Three songs. One memory.

Amore Mio, Mea Culpa and Oh My God, Give Me Peace belong together for me. They are three individual songs, but they also tell the story of an encounter with an artist whose music, humour and personality left a lasting impression.

Looking back twenty years later, the recordings preserve more than a musical moment. They preserve a friendship, conversations, rehearsals and memories of Nella that remain part of my own artistic story.

Three songs from Nella — with gratitude.
