Biography

Alessandro Cipriano is a tenor in the classical crossover genre, whose artistic path is defined by discipline, cultural depth and a refined sense of expression. Born in Switzerland with German-Italian roots, his journey began far from the stage — in the world of fine cuisine.

Trained as a chef and pastry chef in a five-star hotel, he developed a strong foundation in French, Italian and Spanish cuisine, later deepened through intensive experience in Chinese gastronomy. Yet alongside this path, music remained a constant presence — an instinctive form of expression that would ultimately define his life.

While continuing his professional career, Alessandro began formal vocal studies in Zurich under opera and concert singer Werner Ernst. His development as a lyrical tenor led him to Vienna, where he was accepted as a student of the renowned chamber singer Ruthilde Boesch†, whose uncompromising standards shaped a generation of exceptional voices.

Vienna became his second home for nearly a decade. Immersed in its rich musical tradition, he refined a repertoire that moves seamlessly between bel canto, Viennese song, Lied and crossover — always guided by precision, musical integrity and emotional authenticity.

Master classes with artists such as Teresa Berganza, Plácido Domingo, Carlo Bergonzi and Nicolai Gedda further deepened his artistic language and broadened his international perspective.

Artistry

Alessandro Cipriano’s work is defined by versatility and depth. His Italian roots naturally draw him toward bel canto, while his years in Vienna shaped his affinity for Lied and Viennese repertoire. At the same time, his openness to contemporary expression allows him to move fluidly within the crossover genre.

Selected Highlights

Alessandro’s artistic career includes recordings with musicians of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, concert performances alongside Patricia Kaas, and international appearances across Europe.

In 2011, he released the album Visione, followed by a widely acclaimed performance at the Silvesterstadl in Graz, broadcast across Austria, Germany and Switzerland to an audience of millions.

In 2012, he was granted the exclusive right to reinterpret the soundtrack of the legendary Sissi Trilogy, writing the German lyrics for Wenn die Maske fällt as part of a tribute project marking the 175th anniversary of Empress Elisabeth.

His later projects include the recital On Wings of Song, the Viennese programme Wiener Bonbons, and the single One More Try, produced in London.

With the release of Im Zauber der Nacht in 2019 — a composition inspired by the world of One Thousand and One Nights — Alessandro further expanded his artistic voice into a more personal and expressive direction.
